Michael Barr is Chief Information Office (CIO) of Mount Royal University (MRU) and leads a team that supports over 12,000 credit students, 4,000 continuing education students and 1,300 professors, instructors and staff. Michael was previously Director of IT at the Calgary Catholic School District where he was responsible for transforming the department into a more customer service oriented and technically agile group capable of punching above its weight class. Michael started his career in the trenches doing code testing, client support, and process re-engineering before moving to project management, earning his PMP and moving into leadership. While Calgary is home, Michael spent years working in the US and across Canada and brings a unique perspective to IT leadership and strategy.
